We’ve seen a lot of progress over the last three weeks. The cladding is mostly done, the glazing is in, the electrical cables have been run, the wastewater connections have been made, and the decking is mostly complete. In fact, so much has been done that, all going to plan, the chapel should be complete in 4 weeks.
To enable a door to be installed that will allow access to the ministry centre bathrooms, we had to move the cleaning supplies into a completed downstairs storeroom. Matthew Witheford designed the layout using products from IKEA’s Ivar range, Rachael Witheford built it, and Natalie Stewart helped with the final organisation. It is now an organiser’s paradise, see the image below.
Amongst the many decisions we’ve made over the last couple of weeks is to install an under-bench instant hot-water tap in the chapel kitchenette. This allows us to avoid having an urn on the wall, giving a cleaner appearance and increased storage for a roughly similar cost. We’ve also ordered a commercial basketball hoop that will be installed on the southern side front carpark extension. This will allow the youth to cone the extension off, and use it as a half-court.
Finally, if you look closely at the image of the Chapel Interior, you might also see a spray-painted cross on the internal beams. This ‘tag’ was the result of the builder and Ps. Cam is working out what size the LED cross should be.
