Plaster and Hotmix

Untitled design (1)

With the GIB installed last week, this week has been all about the plaster. With the painters booked in for early next week, the plastering should be just about done, and after the painters come through next week, the carpet and cabinetry will be installed the following week.

While plastering has been the focus of the building itself, there has also been a lot of prep work for concreting. This has included: installing drainage and rerouting water and stormwater waste pipes, alongside installing and grading the gravel base. Part of the concreting work includes the installation of a concrete ‘nib’ (shown in the photo above), which will protect the asphalt repair that should be complete by Sunday. This repair work, alongside some other costs, has ended up costing more than we had budgeted. This is due to rising delivery costs and the cost of oil based produces (e.g. asphalt, PVC piping). While these higher costs are disappointing, we are grateful that our larger material purchases occurred before these price increases, limiting the degree to which we are affected by them.

Please note: Being a construction site, there are many hazards that present health and safety risks. So we ask that you avoid entering the construction site unless you have been formally inducted.
