A Chapel Raise

Untitled design (21)

As the chapel framing was made off-site, it’s instilation has been fairly quick and straightforward. This is because it goes together much like a lego set, albeit a large and heavy one. With the framing up, we can continue getting a clearer sense of what the space will feel like, and… it feels good!

For a little context, while the ceiling begins at a height above the standard building height (2.7m instead of 2.4m), it continues to increase as it moves towards the centre of the chapel. This is because the ceiling follows the angle of the roof line. The result being entrance glazing extends 3.2m high, and a high point that is even higher still. This should help create an entrance that feels welcoming and special, while also creating an internal space that causes your eyes to naturally look upward.

We’re grateful for the drone shots that Paul Temperton took of the chapel build earlier this week. The results of which are below.

Please note: Being a construction site, there are many hazards that present health and safety risks. So we ask that you avoid entering the construction site unless you have been formally inducted.
