While stage one of our Building Back Better project is largely complete, things are still moving forward. Recently we’ve seen progress with stage two, and with tidying up some loose ends associated with stage one.
Classroom Inspection
On Tuesday, Brett and Cam, along with our architect and builder, travelled to Bulls to complete a second inspection of one of the two classroom options we have been investigating. The purpose of this trip was to clarify the extent of the remedial work required for its structure and assess any additional work required. While we’re waiting on reports from the builder and architect, we were pleased with what we found.
Cottage Removal
Tuesday also saw the cottage get jacked up, ready to be moved. The relocation should take place on either Thursday or Friday, though we have yet to confirm the precise times this will take place.
Asphalt Repair and Soil Remediation
During stage one, the asphalt around the cottage was cut and damaged while relocating the mains power from the cottage to the ministry center. As the cottage about to be removed, Brett has begun receiving quotes to repair the asphalt and remediate the soil should the council require it. But, we are yet to settle on a time for this work to occur. This is because of the possibility of further damage when a classroom is relocated on site as part of stage two. As this could cause further damage, we may opt to delay this repair until after that relocation has occurred.
Furniture Donation
Over the weekend, the church also received a substantial donation of office furniture, including two standing desks, two corner desks, two sets of drawers, three office chairs, a bookshelf, and a coffee table. This made a significant difference in the look, feel, and comfort of our office spaces. But, it also means that the church has two desks that are available for a good home, so please let us know if you would like one.
