Disconnections

Building Back Better Background (5)

That new white box mightn’t look like much, but it’s progress! Because, regardless of whether the cottage is demolished or relocated, it needs to be disconnected from power, internet, water, and septic. Today we completed the first step, completing the disconnection of the power and internet. As both the power and internet entering the site were previously terminated at the cottage, disconnecting involved a little more than deactivating connections; the main power cables needed to be re-routed to a new power box on the side of the ministry center, while the internet’s fiber optic connection needed to be trenched to the main building with a new termination point (ONT) installed. Not only does this work prepare the cottage for demolition/relocation, but it also upgrades a fragile part of our electrical system and centralizes our network equipment.

Excluding the repair of damaged tarsal, this project cost approximately $30,000 and was fully funded by a Lower North Island Baptist Association grant. Thanks guys!
