Between the pink wood of the new partitions and the pink bats installed between, our ministry center has begun to resemble a candyfloss wonderland! At this point in the build, all partitions are now in place including those required for the new offices (two weeks ahead of schedule), the electrical is just about completed too. This means that GIB is able to be installed, and the first sheet has already been installed (see image below).
If you look closely at the images below you will see that the old fluorescent lights have been replaced with LED downlights. This is to make the rooms more robust, as surface mounted lights are particularly prone to damage in kids and youth spaces. We have also opted to install five external lights on the soffit of the ministry center which the electrician offered to do at no additional cost.
The new septic line has also been connected. Previously you had to step over the septic line to enter and exit the far side of the ministry center, and its low gradient meant that it was occasionally used as a platform to stand on causing damage as a result. This new line will not only tidy up this side of the building, but limit future damage and associated repair costs.
Finally, the couple who have agreed to take the cottage have been particularly keen to preserve its history. As they have researched the cottage they have come across an early photo of it, with its original veranda (see below). It turns out the cottage is older than we realized (built in 1910s), and they intend to reinstate the original veranda as part of the rebuild process.
