While it’s been a few weeks since the last update, there has been a lot going on behind the scenes. After comparing the tenders for stage 1 with our architect, we brought a preferred tender to the Building Committee (8th May). With the Property Committee’s approval, we sought and obtained final approval from the Elders on Tuesday of this week (14th).
With unanimous support from the architect, building committee, and elders, we informed Seth Palmer from Palmer Construction that he was the successful tenderer. We’re excited to have Seth on board; Seth was deeply engaged during the tendering process, he is known and highly regarded amongst those in the church who have used him, and he also serves on the property development committee of his home church.
Seth is eager to commence construction as soon as possible to ensure timely completion in July. This means that site preparation is scheduled to commence next week, with construction the week following.
The result of stage one will be a significant enhancement of our facilities, creating comfortable and desirable spaces to run courses, events, and kid ministry programs. Stage one will result in our rear rooms being:
- More versatile as we move from several rooms ranging from 19m2 – 25m2, to two larger 39m2 rooms.
- More functional with TVs and HDMI plugs mounted to the walls and the rear toilet being made accessible from both rear classrooms.
- Safer for kids and leaders as internal windows and security cameras will be installed.
- More comfortable through the instillation of acoustic treatment and heat pumps.
- New and fresh with new treatments on the ceiling, walls, and floors.
- While total ministry space will also increase as the ministry center kitchen will be converted into an additional classroom, and dedicated storage space will almost double.
