Two days after the cyclone had passed, the waters had receded enough that we could begin our clean-up. With more than 40 people participating, we were able to:
- Contact every remaining person in the church directory.
- Clean most of the silt from the church car park.
- Empty and sort flood-damaged equipment in the kid’s ministry rooms and storage containers.
- Open the walls to dry out the kid’s rooms.
- Assess the safety of our electrical system.
- Begin assessing and repairing the damage to our water infrastructure.
Unfortunately, due to the contamination that was in parts of our water system we were unable to host a church service the following Sunday.
